The LingWear system uses a
Xybernaut Mobile Assistant IV wearable computer for the display
(www.xybernaut.com).
The Xybernaut has a 233 MHz Pentium processor and 160 MB RAM,
and runs Windows 98.
The processing unit is worn around the waist, and a flat panel
display shows the output.
Speech input is captured through an attached headset.
The current version requires the speech processing and other tasks
to be performed on a separate laptop computer (an IBM Thinkpad,
260 MHz Pentium II, 280 MB RAM, running RedHat Linux).
