Welcome to the Interactive Systems Labs!

The Interactive Systems Laboratories are jointly located at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and at University of Karlruhe in Germany. We aim to develop user interfaces that improve human-machine and human-to-human communication. Two challenging examples of our interests are the development of a speech-to-speech translation system (the JANUS project) and multimodal interfaces (the INTERACT project). [more information on ISL]
